Woo! One more edit… I have decided to end this contest. On one side, I have an amazing group of artists who want this and on the other I have a group of really pissed off designers. I have decided to leave the post up and not just hide it so hopefully other businesses considering doing logo contests see both sides. Personally, I am sad to end this but I am being harassed with hate email/comments/texts/phone calls and I honestly don’t have the mental strength to do this right now. HOWEVER, if you did start working on a logo or completed one, do feel free to still email me with ideas! I’m still looking for someone to work with and I’m absolutely open to what you can bring to the table!!
So. Keeping on a positive note, and thanking those who have been so supportive and excited to work with me, I would like to offer you a place in the Artist Series! 100% of the proceeds received from every soap in the Artist Series are going directly to the Artist’s charity of choice! It is very simple. You make the art, I make the soap and all funds raised (ALL, I take no monetary amount for supplies or anything) go right to helping an art themed project or fund.
Interested in showcasing your skills and helping raise funds to keep art alive? Please feel free to contact me anytime with your ideas!
I look forward to seeing what we can create together and I wish everyone a beautiful day!!

EDITED TO ADD: Wow this little post has gotten a lot of traffic and hate/love mail! I want to clear one thing up before you read any further…
This “contest” was in NO WAY meant to offend any designer or artist of any level, paid or not. I want to make it very clear that my primary audience is not professional designers. It is high school and college students, along with people who want to freelance and go into design but are afraid to take the jump. People who are not in the field yet, who have no or little work to submit for consideration, who have requested their work not be seen unless it wins. People who do not get paid for this type of work, but want to in the future. Anyone looking for a little push to maybe try and go into design.
I am sorry to anyone who feels I am taking advantage of their talents. Please do not enter. What I DO want are people who doodle and draw all the time for fun. People thinking they could finally leave their job to work for themselves if they just got noticed once, but don’t know where to start. People who design for the fun of designing and for the sake of creating. People who never tried something like this and feel they have nothing to loose.
I worked for 5 years making no money until I finally got a little publicity and because of that publicity, I have a business. If you were to tell me then that I could quit my crappy job and work for myself making soap, I would have laughed at you, but blog publicity gave me the courage to finally do it. I was only simply trying to give to someone what was given to me. I honestly didn’t even think this would reach highly paid professionals and I never meant to insult anyone. -Kylee
So…Onward!

Luxury Lane Soap Logo Contest Rules
I’ve been told that every contest has to have rules, regulations and the sort. Lucky for you I have it all laid out, bullet pointed and everything!
Purpose
The main logo symbol for the Luxury Lane Soap company, which will be used for the web site, printed materials, product packaging/labeling and so on. This list is not exhaustive.
Contest Schedule
- Submission period: January 27th, 2012 to February 29th, 2012
- Review of entries: March 1st, 2012 to March 7th, 2012
- Announcement of winner: March 12th, 2012
Guidance
- The logo must be identifiable directly to Luxury Lane Soap.
- The logo must be original work of the submitter.
- The logo should be vector graphics, not a bitmap image.
- The logo should be usable in monochrome and color media, including limited colors (say 2 or 3 colors).
- The logo should be identifiable at a variety of sizes
In order to work with the established brand, the logo can include the following text, either separately or in combination (though text is not required):
- Fresh. Made. Awesome.
- Luxury Lane Soap
- LuxuryLaneSoap.com
- LLS
I’ve never had a “real” logo before, and I’d like to have this one stick around awhile — so please keep in mind that this logo will need to be general enough to identify my business as a whole and not focus too much on any one product or type of product.
Submission deadline: February 29th, 2012 // Midnight Central Time
Participation
The competition is open to all designers, both professional and non-professional. Participation can only take place in a private personal capacity. This is not a solicitation (*chuckle*) …for bids on design services.
Prize
$200 product voucher for your choice of products from Luxury Lane Soap, $50.00 cash monies sent via PayPal and my unwavering gratitude and bragging rights. Best prize ever, right? ALSO! As suggested by @PhysicistLisa, “you should consider offering a credit & link to designer’s website if they’re chosen ie small text “logo by:”link to design site”

- High resolution print-ready scalable vector format such as portable EPS, SVG or Adobe Illustrator AI.

Boring Legal Stuff
Luxury Lane Soap will acquire ownership of the winning logo by assignment of copyright, and the winning designer will disclaim any trademarks and without limitation all other rights related to the design.
By submitting a logo for entry in the competition, the designer acknowledges that he/she is the person that made the logo and is its rightful owner.
The designer also certifies that the logo does not infringe upon the rights of any third party and that it does not violate any copyright.
Compensation
- Designs will not be returned to the designers.
- No responsibility can be accepted for entries that are lost, delayed or damaged.
- Any submissions which does not satisfy the above “submission format” will be ignored without any warning.
