The Measure of Success

So there’s this girl I know and I absolutely adore her. She runs her own company where she gets to work directly with her husband, just like Rory and I. Her and I are about the same age, we mirror each other in a looooooot of things, however, we are polar opposite on basically evvvvverything. Like, everything.

Politics, religion, income, lifestyle, life choices, location, physical appearance….literally, evvvvvverything.

I have been trying to pinpoint what it is about this person that I find so alluring. She makes me laugh and totally gets my humor, and yet, we have totally never met and have verrrrrrrry little in common.

As I have pondered this for over a year now, I finally realized my answer. She is genuinely sweet and it makes ME want to be happy and sweet!

Her happiness is infectious and it made me think of something…

(Cover your ears kids…)

We can either keep bitching about how shitty everything is, OR we can get off of our asses and fucking choose to be happy. CHOOSE to look for the positive. CHOOSE to put sprinkles on everything. Choose to fucking squeal OVER CRAFT PAPER!! Choose to be happy and over use exclamation points like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Choose.To.Keep.Going. Things are shitty sometimes, and NOTHING you are going through is trivial. So, stamp a smiley face on that poo and color that bitch like a rainbow and choose happiness.

And thats why I adore this random stranger on the internet. She inspires me to be sweet, she inspires me to love as much as humanly possible, and she inspires me to get my hustle on EVERY day.

Also, I am going to buy pink pants tonight because I want to, and I am not going to worry about my panty lines because I have a phat ass.

*fist bump*

Supporting anti-SOPA Blackout day

On the Tuesday 24th January 2012, the US Senate will vote on the internet censorship bill.

Whilst it is an American law, it has far reaching repurcusions for the web as a whole.

There are many companies against SOPA, such as Google, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, and today I am lending my weight to the argument by taking my site down for the day.

If you think SOPA doesn’t affect you, please think again. Watch the video below, or use the form below to force politicians to take notice.

Thank you

Yours, Kylee Lane

If you have a WordPress site, please consider adding a SOPA Blackout plugin to your site to join the blackout. It is super duper easy. (I am using http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sopa-blackout/)

Testing blogging via the iPad2 app

Testing the WP app after I just put on a matte screen protector WITH NO BUBBLES! No trapped dust or fibers! #LifeHack: If you ever get fibers or dust on the sticky side as you lay the protector down, use tape to stick it off. For the love of all things coated in sugar, do not touch it with your fingers. You are dirty.

The screen protector came from CrazyDigital on Amazon. The protectors (set of 3 Military grade, $10ish w/ship) took way to long to get here and the CS of CrazyDigital is lacking. That alone, I won’t buy from them again. The product itself is…decent. A little small, doesn’t cover the pad completely but it is in a case which covers the naked sliver of an edge so it is ok, for me, for now.

The matte screen definitely dulls the display. I also feel like there is a millisecond lag. However, I do feel better with it on. I had my pad…which needs a name…naked for a week and I swear there is a pinhole sized nick. *Edited to add that I am pretty sure the space bar is not responding as well with this screen protector on. Every other key seems to be ok, just having issues when in landscape. It has been over twoish weeks and no mystery bubbles have appeared.

Now for some sort of review on the app…wow, it sucks. Essentially this is a notepad because I still need to open this on my laptop to put in links. *Edited to add that this is not true. There are very easy to use short cut buttons…I just have yet to use them.

I need some sort of image signature. Someone work that up for me?

Last Day of School

Tuesday, June 2nd was Starla’s very last day of first grade! Yay! I took this picture of her right before she walked to school. ♥I can not believe this Fall both of the kids will be in school! We are putting Trent in Kindergarten even though he will only be five. I have been *told* that you start boys a year late. Rory and I have talked a lot about it and we decided he is more than ready. I guess I just don’t understand the holding boys back a year…Then again, I don’t understand why people pay for cable when there are plenty of free books out there to read… (And no, we have never once had cable. Ever. However, we have enough books to fill an entire library. So I AM a bit bias on the subject. Reading is FUNdamental! ♥)

Back to the subject…both of my babies will be in school! Just the thought of having an empty house for eight hours just…well…it seems crazy. I have always had a little one (or two) running around. Even when I moved out of my Mom’s house, my little brother was only two years old.

I had looked into going back to school, but I kept putting it off and missed a few cut off dates. I could give a zillion reason why I am not enrolling in College this Fall…money issues, work issues, kid issues…but the truth is, I just wasn’t motivated enough to do it. Now that it’s too late I am angry I didn’t try harder. But it’s easy being angry at something you can’t change…

The more and more I think about it, I am looking forward to both of the kids being in school and having time to be an “old school house wife”. I love cleaning and never have time to do it. I love folding clean laundry! I do! There, I said it! Folding warm, unwrinkled clothing makes me smile. With the kids in the house I never have time to clean as well as I’d like. What’s more, I never have time to ENJOY things being clean before someone is making a mess somewhere in the house. Wow. I am thrilled, come Fall, I will be able to spend hours a day cleaning…What the heck happened to me?!

Sheesh
♥♥♥

Busy Week!

I mentioned in my business blog that it has been a crazy work week for me, so I haven’t been able to blog…Buuut the weekend is finally here so I can enjoy my coffee (while the kids run around screaming with Rory) and listen to my music in my jammies…

Last weekend, after church the kids decided to make one of their favorite characters (Well…one of MY favorite characters…) from Star Wars. Boba Fett. Yay! My kids rock. I just thought it was so cool because kids these days don’t sit and make things out of paper anymore…they need flashing cartoons and loud toys. However, there was a giant fight afterward as to who got to own this awesome creation…Guess everything can’t be perfect all the time.

Starla gets her new bike tomorrow so I will be sure to post a bunch of pictures for everyone! Also, hello and welcome to all of my family who has found me here and commented. ♥
